Virgin Metals – Advanced Copper Projects in Mexico

Overview

Virgin Metals Inc. (TSXV:VGM) is a Toronto, Ontario, Canada based exploration and development company engaged in advancing copper focused projects in Sonora State, Mexico. Virgin Metals’ strategy is to systematically explore and develop the Company’s primary assets: The Los Verdes and the Cuatro Hermanos deposits. The Company’s current focus is to update the Los Verdes’ pre-feasibility study while increasing the measured and indicated mineral resource of all of the Company’s reserves. Virgin Metal’s long term goal is to develop one or more profitable operating copper mines in Mexico.

Investment Highlights

  • 100% owned Los Verdes project near production
  • Sept 2011, the Company acquired a 100% title to the Potreritos deposit concessions in Sonora, Mexico
  • Pre Feasibility Report expected in Q2 2012

Chief Properties

Los Verdes

The Los Verdes property is a historic molybdenum producer and was extensively drilled in the 1970s. Repetition and expansion of that drilling by Virgin in 2006 and 2007 has resulted in the completion of a pre-feasibility Study. That pre-feasibility study demonstrated in considerable detail a robust project based on molybdenum and copper recovery only; upside exists in tungsten and silver recovery as well as improved molybdenum recovery.

In September 2011, the neighbouring Potreritos property was acquired and added to the project.  Potreritos contains the workings of two historic mining operations (Buenavista and La Providencia) and is in close proximity to Virgin Metals Los Verdes project.  During the 1960’s and 1970’s the Buenavista and Tres Piedras (now La Providencia) deposits were operated by Minera Galaviz, SA de CV which constructed a flotation plant in the area to recover copper and molybdenum.  The two deposits are located in close proximity to each other (approx. 200 m) and may be part of the same geological system.  Historical copper and molybdenum concentrations in the rock from the deposits at Potreritos are similar to those expected at Los Verdes.

The Los Verdes/Potreritos project is made up of 17 contiguous titled exploration concessions, covering 6,629 hectares. It lies within what could be considered the southerly extension of the Basin and Range province of the southwestern USA, near the boundary with the Sierra Madre Occidental province.

The Los Verdes resource comprises a modest sized, compact zone of molybdenum, copper and tungsten mineralization located at the crest of a steep ridge. The geometry of the deposit is ideal for low cost open pit mining. During 2007, the Company consolidated the mineral rights of the deposit by acquiring a single isolated claim known as the Bacanora claim. Until this point, our drilling and subsequent resource estimation had been limited to the area east of the Bacanora.

In light of changing metal prices, the pre-feasibility study is currently being recast with expectations of a much more profitable project.

Cuatro Hermanos

The Cuatro Hermanos property hosts a large Cu-Mo porphyry complex with multiple mineralized centers, and outstanding potential. Drilling during past years on one of the targets resulted in a NI 43-101 compliant indicated resource of 206 million tonnes containing 896 million pounds of Cu and 95 million pounds of Mo, along with an inferred resource of 557 million tonnes, containing 2,141 million pounds of Cu and 277 million pounds of Mo.

Virgin Metals Inc. is 100 percent owner of Cobre 4H de Suaqui, S.A. de C.V. (4H), a Mexican company that holds 100 percent of the title to mineral properties at Cuatro Hermanos. The property is made up of 10 mining concessions totaling 8,125 hectares and is located in south east Sonora, just west of the Yaqui River which is located in the western flank of the Sierra Madre.
